Abstract
"The St. Croix International Waterway Management Plan, herein referred to as the 'management plan', was prepared and reviewed by both Provincial and State governments and the public. Following a trial implementation period, the management plan was approved by the Province of New Brunswick. The on-going implementation of this management plan is an obligation of the St. Croix Corridor's continuing Canadian Heritage River status and of the Province's understanding with the State of Maine.

The management plan establishes policies for resource conservation and development with the St. Croix Corridor that maintain the St. Croix's heritage values and realizes its benefits. The Land Use Planning Branch of the Department of Municipalities, Culture and Housing has prepared this Basic Planning Statement and accompanying Zoning Regulation to further implement the primary shoreland management concepts of the management plan."
