Abstract
"Introduction

For 110 miles (185 kilometers) the St. John river system links the State of Maine and the provinces if New Brunswick and Quebec. The streams that feed the St. John course intricately through portions of each state and Province. The people who live within this river system share a natural bond with one another that disregards political boundaries. Many of the features of this region -- its history and distinct Acadian culture, similarities in climate and geography, a unique reliance upon natural resources and the proximity of each country to one another -- reflect this bond formed by the St. John River system. These conditions combine to create a strong backdrop for community relations and international cooperation..."  
Description
This document is a report of The St. John River 2000 - International Conference which was held at the University of Maine, Fort Kent, in Fort Kent, Maine on July 15, 1993.

The Document is split up into three sections as follows:

"Section 1 is a summary of the conference proceedings, including a brief overview of the ideas behind the conference proceedings, panel speeches and discussion points. Section 2 reviews the methods of the survey and reports on the data analysis. Section 3 outlines some preliminary findings and recommendations for an international cooperative process within the St. John River Region."
