Abstract
Introduction of document:
"During the past two hundred years the uses of the Saint John and St. Croix river waters have changed with the growing economy of the region. It is the purpose of this paper to summarize these changes in economy and water use, and to show that such changes have required discussions between Canadians and Americans engaged in commerce and in government administration. Because changing economic conditions in a river basin usually lead to multi-purpose development, it would appear that the pattern of administration and economy in the Saint John and St. Croix is still evolving. During this evolution there has been a good example of cooperation between two friendly nations for more than a century."
