Abstract
"Introduction

For the past five years, 1981-85 efforts have been underway to rebuild anadromous fish stocks in the St. Croix River, particularly Atlantic Salmon. A new fishway was built at Milltown Hydroelectric Dam and measures have been taken to reduce river pollution. Modest numbers of hatchery-reared juvenile salmon have been stocked annually since 1981. Some of the smolts released during this period were tagged to assess the adult contributions from fish stocked above successive hydroelectric dams at Milltown, Woodland and Grand Falls. The numbers of salmon and alewives passing through Milltown fishway have been monitored annually since 1981."
