Abstract
"Introduction

There are four state laws you must keep in mind when conducting wood harvesting operations in Maine's organized municipalities: The Protection and Improvement of Waters Laws, The Natural Resources Protection Act (NRPA) and its associated regulations; the Mandatory Shoreland Zoning Act (MSZA) and corresponding local ordinances; and the Forest Practices Act (FPA) and its associated regulations.

This booklet is designed to cut through the extensive texts of these laws and regulations and provide you with a simpler, easy-to-understand version of their requirements. We hope that by providing you with information in this form, you will be better able to comply with the laws and regulations."
