Abstract
"Introduction
1.2 Project Objectives

Many studies have been carried out in the St. Croix River Estuary over the past 100 years or so. In general, they had relatively narrow and project-specific objectives which were not related to measuring long-term change or assessing the environmental health of this ecosystem. Hopefully, this work will establish historic sampling sites, baseline data, scientific protocols, and mechanisms for measuring the relative health of the estuary on an ongoing basis. Once these protocols are in place, the next step will be to initiate restoration work. It is believed the tools developed during the course of this work will allow assessment of the success or failure of future remediation efforts..."

Topics Include:
- Methods (Sampling, Sites, Abundance Criteria, Substrate and Zonation criteria)
- Study Area
- Physical Environment (Physiology, Geology, Climate, Meteorology)
- Oceanography (Tides, Water Sources, Currents, Temperature, Salinity, Waves, Erosion, Bathymetry, Light, Water Clarity)
- Animals (Porifera, Cnidaria, Mollusca, Annelida, Anthropoda, Echinodermata, Miscellaneaous Phyla, Pisces)
