Abstract
"Introduction

Trees of Knowledge is a general handbook to encourage an appreciation of our native trees and their numerous uses and benefits. This booklet helps to choose the most appropriate trees for plantings on school grounds, wood lots, parks, natural areas, residential, and environmental restoration projects.

Only the trees that commonly grow to ten meters or more as a single woody stem or trunk are included. As such, the booklet includes only the thirty-two distinctive native trees and excludes the smaller trees and multi-stemmed shrubs. A native tree refers to a species that has been in a specific area or region since before European settlement and Colonization. (c.1700)

The trees are arranged in alphabetical order by their Latin names, with the softwood or coniferous trees first and the hardwood deciduous trees following."
